DZAUTO Jan 28th, 02, 5:43 PM Can someone tell me EXACTLY what, if any differences there are between a 68 and 69 SS hood? And, can a 69 SS hood be used on a 68? My son has a 68 300D and would like to add an SS hood. Also, does anyone reasonably close to Okla City have one? ------------------ Tom Parsons Bow_Tied Jan 28th, 02, 5:59 PM The differences are in the hinge mounting points to the hood. Either hood will fit on either car if you have the matching hinges, as I recall reading in previous posts. If I recall correctly the bolt spacing on the hood for the hinge is something like 12½" on a 68 vs 14" on a 69 (approx). Here it is- 68 Hoods hinge bolts are closer together 69 Hing bolts are further apart (about 2 inches farther) (look at the hinge arm that holds the hood- measure the distance between the bolts- 69 will be further apart) Otherwise they are the same. All the reproduction hoods & Hinges are for the 69 Size- so if you get a set of reproduction hinges(or a set of 69 hinges) you'll be set to go.
