what can I do to clean the chung out of my engine compartment and underside of the car (except for sandblasting). There's hardly any rust so all I need to do is scrub with something and lightly sand and I'll be good to go. Any suggestions????

Thanks

A buddy of mine powerwashed the engine compartment in my car and it came out great.

If it's just chung then you can clean it up with foamy engine brite and a brush then hit it with some carb/brake cleaner before painting.
If it's WANG-CHUNG then you'll need a very powerful sandblaster.

I like to use brake cleaner too. Get the major stuff off with an engine cleaner and then hit with brake cleaner. It will disolve the grease and help prepare for painting.

A couple of other alternatives, but both work best in conjunction with a powerful sprayer. Castrol Super purple cleaner does good , as does that foaming oven cleaner stuff. Just be clearful not to get that on the paint.

You pegged it Bill......

Castrol SuperClean, only $5 bucks at Wally-World for a gallon. I ran a hose off the drain valve of my water heater, set the siphon hose from the pressure washer into the gal of Castrol, and created a crud-devouring monster.
