I've been unhappy with my exhaust sound for a while (now 2.5" x-pipe with edelbrock RPM muffs) &(before 2.25 with edelbrock rpms & h-pipe)

I don't want to go with flowmasters, I don't like the hollow can sound- but I do like loud & rumbly.... I've heard Gardners exhaust mentioned here by the resto gurus here and ran accross their website www.gardnerexhast.com (http://www.gardnerexhaust.com/)
(Click here to go directly to their sound clip page (http://www.gardnerexhaust.com/soundclips.html)

That stuff sounds awesome!!! However its expensive, and i have headers, etc etc making it not exactly right for me... So i continued looking and found a few more places...

This place: http://www.sweet-thunder.com/ Has indivudual chamberd muffler tubes for a pretty good price, as well as a pre-bent system made for chevelles (little more expensive)

And also found another one from our well known friends at Torque Tech: www.torquetechexh.com (http://www.torquetechexh.com/Web%20Pages%20June%2028,%2002/Mufflers-Chambered.htm)

Anyway... I was wondering are any of you guys running these systems, or the individual tubes? How does it sound? Too loud? Too much resonance? Just bad ass?

I love the way the gardner sound clips sound- but don't really want the whole shebang kit they sell...

Anyway, just thought i'd see what you guys thought- Thanks!

Ben,

I am running the "Walker Dynomax Turbo Tubes" mentioned by Rod.

My system starts with Walker Dynomax headers (Jet Hot coated), then Summit Racing 2.5 inch aluminized straight pipe, then the Walker Dynomax Turbo Tubes, then Flomaster mandrel bent tailpipes, then Walker Dynomax Racemags finished with factory Chrome Tips.

I cut and rewelded the ends of the Turbo Tubes to 45* oposit angles on oposit ends. The Flowmaster tailpipes I also cut back and welded on the Racemags.

See pics below... You can see some of the exhaust. The sound is incredible with no poping. Just a great deep rumble. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Very cool guys!! I'm going to be getting some new headers in the near future, and i'm thinking about just having the whole X & mufflers torched off- These turbo tubes are cheap enough i may just get a set and check them out.

Brian- what length tubes did you get? I think they come in several sizes- I would like to compare to what you got. Also what are the "race mags"? they look like resonators on the end.. are they from walker/dynomax also?

Thanks!!
Ben

Ben,

I believe I got the 32" length. The RaceMags are also straight muffs from Walker/Dynomax. I used them because they do look like resonators. I don't think they have as many sizes as they use to. The RaceMags do come in several sizes, I used the 2.5" inlet and outlet. I also trimed down the ends of the RaceMags and welded a nipple on for the Chrome Tips.
