: Custom SS Fuel tank for EFI??
Alright, last resort. Can't find my notes from a guy I spoke to 6 months ago about his custom fabbed stainless fuel tanks built for fuel injection for a-bodies. They were bolt in units, that only needed plumbed fuel lines to hook up to the tank and appropriate electrical for the pump.
I seem to recall he was in AZ. I'm getting zip on searches. As I recall they had built-in baffles as well to prevent fuel starvation.
Anybody have any info on who I'm talking about???

As soon as I saw the name, I knew it was the one. Several hundred search results of different combinations did not yield his site!
ThankyouThankyouThankyou!!!

65Malibu4dr Jan 1st, 03, 10:14 PM Glad to help, I just found that information a couple of days ago and recongnized it from your description.
What is your application, and what type of EFI are you installing? I am considering going EFI on my next engine build.

Oh boy...
Well, long story short: '69 Chevelle, custom 327 .030 over FT's, Dart Pro1 64cc CC/200cc IR heads, solid/full roller valvetrain(custom specs), Edelbrock hiflow TPI intake/runners, stock plenum, TB TBD, probably 24lb injectors to start, fired by a SpeedPro sequential ECU coupled w/ MSD 6al ignition.
Those are my specs for the 1st stage finished enging prior to getting twin turbos, when the motor will be removed for the proper mods. ECU and injectors are upgradeable, and plenum may get mods. I have most of the top end engine components, and am acquiring some of the TPI components this month. Last will be the ECU following engine compartment wiring w/ the FAST wiring kit. Engine compartment is getting major makeover w/ both the TPI install and VintageAir A/C simultaneously for clean wiring. In making my wish list, I couldn't find the fuel tank info. I spoke to these guys on the phone months ago, and was very impressed with what I heard. I wanted the flexibility of going alcohol later, and this tank, combined w/ my installation and ECU will make it possible.
Lotta research here for just my application, but, bear in mind that I have proven that the FAST/SpeedPro ECU is the BEST.
fyi, had my 'velle 17 years, and hope to have this stage done and ready for road racing by 2005. It's also in the process of getting new 4 wheel discs (12" front), and all new suspension/anti sway. I've got most of those parts ready to go on. Just waiting for spring!

Gokou Jan 1st, 03, 11:55 PM I just put a Rock Valley tank in my Chevelle. Quality piece, although UPS could have been more gentle on it during shipping (the neck was bent, luckily I was able to bend it back.) It's a hair bigger in size and capacity than the stock tank because there are no squish-seam welds around the edges (mine held 26.5 gallons). The slightly larger dimensions caused some interference with my tailpipes; I had to move them a bit, but other than that I had no problems. Looks great, and superb construction quality.
There's a couple pics of the tank on my webpage here under fuel system: http://home.attbi.com/~procharged69/
I brush-polished the tank with medium rubbing compound and a scotchbrite, working in one direction to establish a grain. Took about an hour, and the result looks like a very nice brushed stainless kitchen appliance.
Rock Valley can build them with in-tank 255lph pumps and senders so they're EFI ready. I bought the tank set up for an external pump, with 1/2" NPT bungs on the front and 1/2" pickup and return tubes-- their 255lph internal pump is on the edge of being inadequate once the blower is on, so I went with an external pump. As an added bonus, I can service the pump and filter without having to drop the tank. The in-tank pump will be quieter though.
camcojb Jan 2nd, 03, 1:36 AM Looking good Troy!!!!!!!!! That was the first time I've seen your web page; thanks for the kind words.
Really looking forward to seeing it run. By the way, the Rock Valley tank is a quality piece. I used one in my 69 Camaro, and will probably use another one in my new car.

Thanks for all the help and feedback on the Rock Valley tanks. You can't get too much positive reinforcement of a decision made on paper. I'll be going w/ the in-tank pump, and upgrading later.

btw, what lines did you use for return? I was just gonna run a 2nd factory hard fuel line custom terminated.
