can someone tell me what the engine code is for a 71 LS5 454 car with auto tranny. thanks Donnie

i looked in the engine decode section but their is no 454's listed for 71.

Some books list "CPO" as the code for an A-body (Chevelle) '71 LS5 454 with automatic transmission. I believe, however, that is a typo error. It is really "CPD". I know because I have one http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Hmmm. Must be a typo in my GM Parts Manual as well, it shows the CPD code for a manual transmission 454 in 71. I got the CPO code information from the decoder program sold here on TC - but it's been wrong before as well on engine codes.
