I have a non vented gas cap (not sure if it is origninal). When the tank gets lower the pressure builds up causing fuel to leak out under the cap. Should I have a vented cap on the car. It is not a california car.
Thanks

if there is one tube going into the sender then you should have a vented cap i believe if you have 2 ports one is the gas supply and on is a vent therefore you dont need a vented cap my 70 has a vented cap

The car should have a vented cap if it is NOT a California car AND the original tank is still installed.

If the car has a charcoal canister, wouldnt that mean a non vented cap? I believe my 70 did have one and I removed it for some reason but I really cant remember that far back! I could be thinking of another car.

1970 Chevelles manufactured for sale in California had non vented caps AND vapor recovery systems. In 1971 the system was installed on ALL vehicles. If your 70 Chevelle had a canister/recovery system, it was manufactured for sale in California. You'll even find that info in the owner's manual.
