Jim - you shoulda warned us - needed to put my sunglasses on. Looking good !

I'm looking at the same engine/trans combo come Spring for my '68 Elkie - how's it run?

I also noticed the AC/Htr delete on the firewall, a compressor, and what looks like a belt tensioner. I was going to ask, but then saw it in your signature. Can you post some details on the serpentine system you're using?

Ed, the serpentine belt system is by Gm Performance parts. The kit comes in several configurations depending on your needs. The basic kit gives you the mounting bracket with idler pulleys, power steering pump and belts. The deluxe kit is the basic kit plus a reverse rotation water pump and 100 amp alternator. My kit included all of the above and an a/c compressor which replaces one of the idler pulleys. It is the same basic setup that was used in the late eighties Camaros. The installation was easy and the setup works great. Clearances in front of the engine are tight, and I ended up using electric cooling fans, although I might have been able to squeeze an engine driven fan in there with some kind of custom shroud.
Adding the vintage air system to the factory air car was a little intimidating, but the setup worked out well. I eliminated the original glass washer bottle and put a coolant return tank in it's place.

The coolant tank is also from an eighties Camaro. It fits the fender contour pretty well, with a little modification of the tank. You can still get them from Chevy for about 15 dollars.

Looks great. What power brake booster/master cyl./porportioning valve, did you use. I have a 65 and going to convert to power brakes.

The brake booster came from Original Parts Group, it is for a 72 el camino application, the proportioning valve came from Stainless Steel Brakes, same application. The master cylinder came from Chevrolet. It is a new unit, I went through two rebuilt ones before I bit the bullet and got a new one. The brake booster was the second one too, because the first one was damaged when I received it. The new brake set up is a great improvement over the original single reservoir master cylinder manual drum brakes.

Nice work Jim!
Was the tensioning unit also part of the GM serpentine set? Can you post a picture of it that shows how it bolts to head or manifold?I'm interested for a similiar small block setup.

Ken:
The tensioning unit is part of the system. The whole system consists of two brackets that bolt to the front of the engine. These brackets contain the p/s pump (pre mounted on the bracket) and the alternator bracket on one side, and the idler pulley, tensioner pulley and a/c compressor bracket or another idler pulley on the other side. I will try to post close ups of the front of the engine here this week.
