: Top Shot NOS - Any Good and How Much?

I've recently come across the NOS Top Shot system on Holley's web site. I'm new to NOS and have some questions. I'm not looking for tremendous performance - just something to make occasional pedal romps a little more spirited.

I'm running a freshly rebuilt Olds 350 with cast pistons, a Crane 260 cam, performer intake, and a Holley 600 vacuum secondary. I would set up the top shot for the minimum 75 horse shot.

My questions are:

1. Is this system any good?

2. How much would it cost?

3. What would I need to do to provide the fuel for it?

4. Will it blow up my engine with only occasional, conservative use?

Thanks in advance for any and all responses, Jack

NOS is the great grandfather of nitrous oxide systems,I would say that their systems are as good as any.

cost 400-500 check at www.summitracing.com (http://www.summitracing.com)

they require a minimum 5-6 psi fuel pressure,if you have a good mechanical pump a Y in the line to the nitrous fuel solenoid will work.

as long as your engine is in good condition,a 75-125 hp shot shouldnt harm it.

Ill second what Bob said, but ill also add that its somewhat of an inefficient system, and i think your better off with a plate system with the same jetting. Plate systems are in the same price range, and i think the purpose of this system was to be as hidden as possible, as everything but the lines and bottle are in the air cleaner assembly. Just my 2 pennies.

Thanks guys.

Looked at Summit. They want $469 for the top shot vs. $385 for the Powershot plate system. Sounds like the plate system is the way to go.

Thanks again.

Cast will handle the power, but are alot less forgiving if something goes wrong. Basically with nitrous, as long as you always have enough fuel, you be fine.

I tried a Topshot on my old 327;it really woke it up(two runs only, then went BBC).You might want to get a double pumper; you don't want to squirt the juice onto partially closed throttle blades. Also, a window switch is helpful to ensure that your system is only firing at full throttle, full load, and switches off before you run up on your rev limiter. And,do not use platinum plugs.
