IMHO, worth double that if you are interested in these cars. Lots of parts are still available from GM, but you need a part # to get them from the dealer, most can't or wont' look them up for you.

Parts books are a great investment. They will help you identify NOS or hard to find parts and will allow you to walk into the dealership with a number and not a question, the parts guys seem to be much better at dealing with numbers instead of I need that little thingy that goes behind the whatcha-ma-call-it inside of the little thingy. This will cut the headaches down on both ends, LOL. I have the parts book for 1972 Chevrolet Chevelles, Camaros, Fullsize and Nova, I also have the big Chevrolet parts book, all models thru 1975 which was published in 1976, this is larger than teh 1983 edition but the numbers are older. Both books come in handy all the time, be it on the internet helping out guys on message boards such as TC or out in the garage trying to track down what parts I need to complete a hard project. Also, often times GM numbers can be crossed to other manufacturers, especially on mechanical items, this makes going to the autoparts store easier too, LOL.
So, IMO, I would say, if you have a 1978-1987 El Camino then go for it, you will have a valuable tool that you can hang onto and I assure you it will not lose it's value anytime soon parts book sell on ebay all the time for some hefty prices, just look at the completed auctions.

I bought the one I posted. Sounds incredibly useful and jampacked with part info.
