I need help. A few months ago I purchased a new gas tank for my '72 Elky. Just this past weekend I tried to install it. I found out that the filler neck is not bent to the correct angle to align to the gas filler door. Infact it is off so much that I cannot get the tank set up between the frame because the filler neck hits the inside sheet metal of the rear quarter, 4 or 5 inches below the filler door.
This is what I have. The filler neck tube is 17 inches overall length. The tube comes straight out of the top half of the tank for 7 inches then its bent upward about 15 degrees. I think that it should be about 40 to 45 degrees of bend.
Could someone who has a 68 to 72 Elky measure the angle of their filler tube so that I can take the tank to a muffler shop and bend this tube to the correct angle ??
Any help would be appreciated,
Thank you, David
