The flat hood that came with my 71' has a rubber strip at the rear to seal to the cowl area. The used GM SS cowl hood (dome hood not cowl induction) that I bought to put on it did not have this strip when I got it nor is there any evidence that it ever did have it...should it???
Thanx
Dwayne

Both the cowl and non cowl domed hood have a V shaped weatherstrip about 10-12" long on either side of the dome in the rear. These are help on by three metal clips. Look for three holes on both sides in line near the rear of the hood for evidence of this.

That is a true statement. This strip is also available from the aftermarket sources. It comes with no holes. I use a regular, hand held single hole punch to make the holes. It works quite well. When you buy a strip (clips are extra), it has to be cut to length and if you have a Cowl or CI hood, you have to cut 2 short lengths from the long one and punch holes.

So, are you saying that the one on the flat hood is the same design just longer?? Could I just take it off and cut two sections the lenght I need out of it??
