My problem is, I did not take anything off this car. My son did at his autoshop. When I ask him how was this attached he say's; "I don't know". He did not pay attention to anything he removed. IT'S KILLING ME!
The question. How is the radiator attached to a 1970 chevelle? I don't see any mounting holes, and since we are putting on an aluminum radiator I am lost. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif

thanks..........bk

It sits on the rad support on rubber cushions. The top is secured with the radiator top plate which bolts to the top of the rad support and clamps down onthe top of the radiator. That also gets two rubber cushions. The fan shroud bolts to the rear of the top plate. Take a look at this picture for a better idea of what it all looks like. http://www.noneckschevelle.com/images/Josh72Chevelle92001c.jpg

Noneck is right, it just sits on a couple rubber cushions, and then gets held in place by the upper rad support.

That's EXACTLY correct! Two cushions on the bottom and 2 on the top cover. If you need new cushions (and you probably do) they are available. There are long ones and short ones, depending on whether you have a big or small radiator. Both the lower and upper cushings have a cone shaped tab which just pulls through the holes to hold them in place. Frequently, with age, these tabs get broken off.

AND BY THE WAY, THERE ARE NO SILLY OR DUMB QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S HOW YOU LEARN, IS BY ASKING. AND THAT'S WHAT THIS FORUM IS FOR!
