I am changing Back to Original 4 speed , Do I get the reverse Light switch from ontop of the steering column ?

I am Using a Hurst shifter and I have a reverse Lockout Setup from a Muncie , can I use that on the hurst so I can turn the steering column.

Can Im adapt the setup to work ?

Need a little Help with this cant find alot of info on this Job.

Can you buy the Short wire Harness under the dash with the 2 Purple wires that go to the Clutch cut out switch ?

OF COURSE There has been a Butcher under the dash

Kirk, I don't know what year you have or whether you want stock or not. If you want to rig something up that is cheap and neat, but not stock, a brake light switch works great. They are plentyful easy to come by and cheap. I fabricated a 1/8 X 1 X 3 and 1/2 inch piece of flatstock. I used aluminum and drilled two holes in each end. Can't quite remember the size holes to drill in the peice but I think one was 7/16 to accomadate the tranny tail shaft hole and the other 1/2 to accomadate the switch. You may need to bend a slight offset to the bracket in the middle. Then bolt it to the bottom left tail shaft bolt (you may want to use a slightly longer bolt). And then but the brake light switch through the other hole so that it hits against the reverse lever enough to push the button in (OFF) position. Supply power to the switch via the green wire you speak of. Now when you shift into reverse the button pops out, magic, you have back up lights. This can all be made up in about 15 minutes total if you have a spare switch laying around. Hope this helps Bill

Kirk,

Hurst makes a reverse light switch that bolts onto the shifter. I just installed one on my 69 Chevelle and it works great. I ran a piece of lamp cord from the switch to the underside of the dash and spliced it into the purple wires on the reverse switch fastened to the steering column. I think the switch is about $12.00 and the installation is a no brainer.

Good luck,
Bubba
