: forced AC kit?

hi there
my friend was telling me about something he saw a ta swap meet recently. It was a cold air system that you hooked up to your AC and Air filter. I was just wondering if this would really boost HP or even work. I know that when the AC is running it drained HP so would this cold air unit compensate for itand boost HP? If so where could i get one?

Crap! This actually exists? During a thread where we were all joking about forced / cold air induction that was my suggestion for the best set-up. PLumb ducts to your ac and route to carb. Oh boy. Right up there with the weedwhacker induction. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Running the AC for the sole purpose of getting more horse power will never happen. The energy required to cool the air is far greater than any increase in the the energy output you would see.

It's a neat idea. It just won't work.

well what about simply hooking it up to the fan for something like aforced air unit?

Could you route an inlet tube from carb to the passenger compartment and have it come out right at the glove box?

This way you could just ask the passenger to blow really hard into the tube whenever you needed the extra ponies and have boost on demand. Would be even better if they were *****face drunk cause then you'd have the extra combustion from, say, Bacardi 151.

Who needs a blower and n2o?!?!? I got a drunk in the passenger seat hooked to a tube that go's directly into the carb.

I should of been an engineer, these ideas just pop into my head. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

Was the seller's name "Patter"?

Nah, nevermind, couldn't be. That's a little too cerebral for Patter.

Hey Midnight, I think that the A/C setup and the elusive 66-67 Cowl Induction air cleaner might work.????!!!!

Yeah, I seem to recall a few guys on this site have messed with a forced air induction unit. They claim it made a whole lot of power. But those guys used a belt driven system. You could use an electric fan, buy you'd loose a lot of power to the fan. Belt drive is more simple and effecient.

How 'bout running ducts from the AC into the car so you won't be hot while driving. (Naw, that's stupid... Nevermind)

Could you point me in the right direction to this thread you are refering too about the belt driven fan for forced air? I cant seem to locate it in the 02,01,00, or engine tech areas.

Thanks

Sort of along the same lines, Mercedes had a few cars which had the fuel line wrapped around the low side of the A/C system (after the evaporator) so the fuel would be cooled if the A/C was on. Just a thought for all you experimenting types.

I just route my fuel line through the beer cooler I have in the trunk. Cool fuel and cold beer....BTW, thats chapter 7 in my book im working on.
