I am not a 67 guru. But the 67 Chevelle had
2 basic trans missions in each group.
3 speed and 4 speed, and powere glide and th400 automatic. These are ALL short tail shaft transmissions. the drive shaft for the 400 is shorter. about 4 in.
SO I ASSUME a long shaft 400 could work ??
there another 6 in if my memory serves me right.
But there are plenty of short one's around. Why go through all that HASSLE ?

4My, Went thru this about 2 years ago when I bought a SBC350/TH350 to drop in my 67 Cutlass. Didn't realize until I got it home that the tailshaft on the trans was a 9", compared to the 6"on the old trans. Tried to get the original driveshaft shortend, but it couldn't be done due to the configuration of the driveshaft and the rubber in it that is used to dampen shock. Took awhile to find a usable/shortenable one in a bone yard. $20 bucks for the shaft and $40 to get it shortend. I have got some vibrations at certain speeds which maybe because the folks that shortened it couldn't balance it. Just my story and I'm sticking to it!!
