Ok here are a few how to's.

How do you replace the fender emblems on a 70 without removing the fender. I have the fender off and the emblems removed and would like to re-install it for painting and then NOT have to take it off again to install the emblems?? Howto??

How does the vinyl top install in the rain gutter areas?? It tucks behind the front and back glass chrome and under the side chrome but what about the bottom of the front pillars and along the rain gutter?? Howto??

Repair drilled holes in flooring without welding? Howto??

Bought a power bucket seat track from a so called A-bdy chevelle but only the front or back tracks line up. Looks like it should be the front but why are the tracks shorter than the manual track and how is the "correct" way to install this?? Howto??

Not sure if I can add a standard fuel pump.(has electric now) How do I tell if the previous engine rebuilder installed the cam and rod for the fuel pump without removing the timing cover? HowdoItell??

If I change my column to a tilt column do I need to remain "Numbers" aware as typically respected with drivetrains to be considered original? I really want a tilt column :))

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks to a great forum and great people.. :))

I just did my El Camino by pulling the fenders out at the bottom and reaching up. The inner skirts were still out though. There may be a better way.

Don't know about the vinyl top.

I like that two part body/seam filler that you have to buy the high dollar gun to squirt. The gun also squirts the two part glue that they claim will hold on a panel with no welding. If the hole's real big a piece of sheet metal in the glue might be necessary.

Don't know about the seat

I don't know if there are aftermarket cams available (MkV type?) that don't have a fuel pump lobe, but if so, seems like a fuel pump rod stuck in the hole would be an easy test by feel. Every camshaft I've ever had has the lobe. Assuming it's an old engine, the lobe would be made on the cam. Since you said 70SS, I'm assuming it's a big block. There's a 3/8 NPT pipe plug under the fuel pump boss to facilitate installation of the pump rod. Don't forget to lube the cam end of the rod if installing where there wasn't one.

Great info. So if the lobe is on the big block cam, and it is a bick block then just remove the plus, lube and install the pushrod, reinstall the plug and installe the pump right?? Where do I get the rod??

Anybody that sells hard part should have em available. I think most of the suppliers like Melling, TRW, etc, etc, build em. Probably still available from GM too.

Yes, the lobe is definately on all the pre MkV big block cams and you'd do it just like you said. I just don't know what they did on the MkV's and newer since there was no provision for a pump to be bolted to the block. Incidentally, small blocks are made the same way, except they have a removable plate for rod access instead of the plug.

Another way to install any of the fender/trunk dressings is to use barrel clips instead of putting back on with the speed nuts.

Fit is extremely critical with these. I have after installation, removal can be made with a couple of butter knives, a steady hand and a pound of patience.

You may want to search on the Paint section and see if anyone has posted any success or horror stories with them.

Emblems - If using barrel clips!!! Do not forget to ream the holes out to the proper diameter. They do not fit the factory hole it is to small. If you find this out after you paint your fenders you will not be happy.
eg. An emblem with ø1/8 legs requires a ø9/64 hole W/clip it is ø11/64 minimum. Drilling or reaming fresh paint is no fun.

No exactly.

If there is a boss for the fuel pump and the fuel pump has been removed there will be a cover plate. If there's a cover plate then the camshaft should be correct for a mechanical fuel pump. Whether the rod is there or not is anybody's guess. Wouldn't hurt to be there as it would probably sink down to the cover plate and never touch the camshaft anyway. The rod should (but can't say for sure) be available from Chevrolet.

The rod goes between the camshaft and the arm on the fuel pump.
