Has anyone dealt with a dealer in Greene IA called Austin Auto Center? I am going to look at a car they have and was just wondering if anyone has any information. Thanks.

I am looking at a 70 Malibu, no engine or transmission. From the pictures I have seen it is fairly straight and it has buckets but no console. The frame is supposed to be in good shape. Has some rust in the trunk and floor pans plus some surface rust. It has a clean title.
I have talked to the dealer a couple of times and the seem to be up front about things. Price is reasonable. I guess I will find out tommorrow how accurate their descriptions are.
I appreciate the response.

drkass, I'd be careful. When a dealer says, "some surface rust", it sometimes means something very different. Look that baby over VERY carefully. Rust can be some of the most time consuming and expensive repairs to make on these old classics.

I went and looked at the car today with my son. It is rusty, but in the typical places trunk & floor pans, lower quarters and lower fenders. The car has buckets that need recovering but the dash is very good no cracks and has not been cut for stereo.
The car did not have a vinyl top and there is no rust around the rear or front windows. It also has a floor shift steering column. The frame and the engine area were in good shape.
Both my son and I looked it over very carefully and decided to buy it. The price was $1400 and he is delivering it to my house next week. Everything he told me over the phone appeared to be accurate. For the price it seemed fair. Also, he advertised the car as no engine or transmission. When we looked at the car it had an automatic transmission in it and he is leaving that with the car. Don't know what kind of shape it is and did not find out which automatic it was.
Bob my son will be joining Heartland and I will send his dues with mine.
