: Help! someone stole my Chevelle!!!!
Justin Mciver Dec 6th, 02, 7:18 PM Hey guys,
not sure what good this will do but;
My chevelle was stolen wed night 11-4-02. out of the norther sacramento CA area. Just thought I could get the work out and it might help me recover it.
its a blue 66 with one black(driverside) fender. the car has a fiberglass cowl hood with 454 emblems.
17" billet specialties GTX01 wheels, fronts were 17x8 and the rear was 17x11. one of the rear wheels had a good size ding/scrape on the outer lip.
the car had a black interior with autometer silver faced gauges, "Scat" high back vinyl black seats.
the car had a 454 with a T-56 sixspeed transmision.
im sure there is not much that can be done here. but if you could...please keep an eye out for it. its my baby. 8years of work down the drain.

HeavyChevy13 Dec 10th, 02, 11:34 AM the more i thought about it maybe youre right about the whole mexico thing i didnt think about how the borders would be harder to cross because of the holidays and because of 9/11.
another place they could take the car would be a military base - who knows?
that really sucks for you i would seriously go into a rage and kill people if someone stole my chevelle and its a rusted up 307 that ive barely worked on, i cant imagine spending countless hours on a car, countless hours dreaming about that car and having it stolen! =[ I hope you find it
jack Dec 10th, 02, 4:09 PM That Blows!!
I'll keep an eye out for it in San Diego.
I doubt it can get on a militay base -9/11- unless you have current reg. and proof of insurance to get a pass or sticker for your car to get on base.
Check all newspaper classifieds, e-bay,
swap meets, other 66s in the neighboorhood.
Contact your local NOCAL car clubs etc..
If you or they see any good deals on parts, it may be a lead??
Hopefully it's just kids out for a joy ride and will ditch it, it takes time for someone to report an abandoned car and for the police to respond....
Lots of luck,
Jack

I was driving home from work last night about 7PM and saw a 64 Chevelle w/California plates driving down the Interstate. It was a red two door, don't recall if it was an SS. Just about made my heart stop. First thing I thought of was Justin's car. Ya never know.

Justin Mciver Dec 11th, 02, 2:37 PM yes I was at sac raceway on 11/16
the car has been recovered. or at least something that resembled it was recovered. they took everything. motor, trans, pedals, dash, seats, carpet, hood , truck lid, you name it they got it. now I just have a empty shell, not sure if im going to rebuild it or not. seems too depressing to do it all over again.
but from what they took its obvious that they are building another 66. they took my steering column, and put in another one from a 66 with collumn shift. and they left expensive items like a bowtie side veiw mirrror...ect.. so Im keeping my eyes peeled for a 66 with a a one of a kind custom dash, and sixspeed. ect... the car was found in rio linda at the intersection of 26th and I. the car had a tire strapped to the back and no brakes. so they couldnt have pushed it far. Im going to be looking around up there for my stuff ....thats for sure.
thanks for all your sympathy guys.
Justin McIver
p.s. should I rebuild it?????
MalibuJerry350 Dec 11th, 02, 3:58 PM I'm so sorry to hear about the condition of your car. That's a real heartbreaker, for sure. I would do a little detective work.... especially garages, private or otherwise in the area. Just don't do it alone. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/mad.gif

Midnight Marauder Dec 11th, 02, 4:46 PM DAMN I HATE THIEVES! I remmebr your ride form Sac and man that flat out sucks. But, if you enjoy the car, enjoy the hobby, then dig back in. Dont let some SOB thiefs ruin it for you. Keep your eyes peeled for you parts, I bet they turn up but my bet is that they would turn up down south around LA unless they're real, real stupid.
You have any pics of your dash? If I see one around I can always look and see. What about those rims? Any identifying marks on them I could look for?
Anywho, that sucks big time. Very sorry to hear it.

I know how you feel. I had an Olds stolen and stripped a few years back. Actually I was out of town on business when it happened and they took it from my wife out of a parking lot. Good thing my son was around to help her out.
It was a basket case when I got it back. They found it dumped about 10 miles away. I told her that if some dumb punks can take it apart, I can put it back together. Took about 8 months to find the pieces and get it done.
About 2 months later saw a newspaper article about locating a chop shop and arresting the guys. It was being run out a garage about 1 mile from where they found my car. I always like to think they got them.
My opinion, don't let some snots beat your dream. Put it back together. If you decide yes, send me an email. Have one super deal for you on a dent free bondo free trunk lid. Something to get you started.
John Muha
JimN Dec 11th, 02, 8:54 PM Build it back again with some changes for the better, and put an anti theft system and lo jack in it. Put some booby traps in it, too. Don't give up.

Freddy Mercado Dec 11th, 02, 9:05 PM That sucks!!! In addition to keeping your eyes and ears open in the area where you found the car, I would also keep an eye open on eBay. Sorry to hear about your loss.
------------------
68ElCamino Dec 11th, 02, 9:40 PM This would make me go completely off the deep end. I would get my stuff back using any means available.
The jo's that stole your car and the parts from it are in very close proximity to where your car was found. I would bet within a couple of blocks. The fact that they pushed it with a tire attached to the rear makes me think they are bold and therefore careless. If you are persistant in watching that immediate area you will see your parts.
Walk the area on Saturdays and Sundays when guys like to work on their cars. Look for a parked car or truck with marks/scratches from pushing another car while you are walking the area. Drive up and down the alley ways looking in open garages.
I don't think it was stolen for parts to sell, rather for parts to build another.
Motor serial numbers, receipts, and other proof of ownership is the only way to proove it's you stuff.
Wooderson Dec 12th, 02, 12:43 AM Some parts stores/speed shops let people put up wanted/for sale ads. You might put up an ad for "Wanted : six speed trans for Chevy" or something along those lines. They might just give you a call. If you do this, be cool and have a phony story about what car you want it for so the thieves don't catch on. It might just work.
Justin Mciver Dec 12th, 02, 3:19 PM Thank guys,
you guys have really made me feel better about my loss. most people dont understand what I lost. they just think it was some old chevy. it takes a real rodder to understand.
I'm really leaning towards rebuilding it. obvioulsy I could never get rodding out of my blood. Ive got a 59 chevy pu im drving that needs some worktoo, but the chevelle was my first car. 8yrs of work went into it.
the funny thing is, my car was in almost the exact same condition this time last year when I was putting in the six speed and painting the firewall. the only diffrence now is I dont have all the parts to put back in it.
thanks again guys.
I will try to get some pictures up of the wheels and custom dash. motor, ect.

FO_FDYFO Dec 13th, 02, 9:24 AM i'm real sorry. my wagon was taken from me because of a careless idiot. it was not done intentionally. yours was. thats a little harded to deal with. mine is not rebuildable as far as i am concerned. if your body is still good you should rebuild it. let your anger turn into determination! good luck http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

OrrieG Dec 13th, 02, 6:55 PM The custom dash may end up being the key to busting them. Make sure you have it well documented with the police. Post the photos here so we can keep an eye out for it and alert you if it shows up anywhere.
And if you had insurance check your comp/theft policy. I am doing a frame off on a 59 PU and as long as I pay the collision theft insurance and it is a "whole" vehicle (defined as having an engine and running gear) my agent told me I was covered. When it got into pieces it became personal property stored in the garage under my homeowners policy.
Good luck man, we DO understand your feelings.
