Has anyone ever added a throttle cable set up to a 64-65 to replace the rod set up? I would be interested in any ideas as far as changing over. I think the cable set ups are more efficient as far as use and complete opening of the throttle.
Also, if no one has, is there a more efficient upgrade to the rod/pedal set up?
All ideas welcome!!!! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Lokar has a setup to do the swap... I know they have one for 66-67, and I think that might work with the 64-65... I think their pivot bracket bolts the the factory holes in the firewall, so just drill one hole for the cable...
I am sure there is a difference in feel, but for efficiency, the rod should actually be just as good, and properly adjusted, it will easily open the throttle completely...

If it is the same as a 67 then they have the stuff you need. It uses a pedal assembly from a 1st gen F body, it bolts right where the stock deal bolts. Call them and get the part numbers and then buy it from Summit.

I installed a 70 cable and swining pedal on my 65. I made a sheetmetal cover to go over the stock hole using the stock bolts holes. I drilled a hole higher up in the firewall to mount the cabe. Also drilled two holes to mount the pedal to the firewall.
The reason I didn't use the stock hole is that is on the edge of the concave curve of the firewall. Had to mount cable on flat surface. Cable goes up and over sparkplug wires for HEI.
There are different length cables (Yearone) but I dont' think they vary that much. One for a 2 barrel off another model might have been a better fit for my small block.

I used the Lokar pedal for 67 camero and 24"cable. Bolted to stock holes. Cable was easy install. I have a 65 2 dr. hard top.
