I've read a lot of good, but also a lot of bad. I have no personal experience with them. I've also read you must no screw anything up, and perform ALL of the tests the want you to for the warranty (sp?) to apply.

We put one of their 700R4 transmissions in a 60 Impala behind a 502 Ramjet, so far so good. I wasn't too happy when I found out I was on my own to find a suitable detent cable but it wasn't that hard to find a usuable piece.

A friend just had them put a 700r4 in his chevy p/u, he had them do all the work and is happy. The only issue he had was he had a driveline vibration after the install. he called them to ask what it could be and they said it wasnt anything they did but probably the driveshaft needed balancing. They were right. I would figure that they would have noticed it since they did the install. Anyways he's happy with what they did.

Well he had a turbo 400 trans in there before, maybe a long tailshaft. Would that make a difference?

I installed one of thier 200's in my '66 Elky about 50K ago.....and with the exception of the slight delay between park and any gear (thats been there since i installed it...they told me it was normal....i dont think so), i've had no problems. I did have a hell of a time getting the pressure settings correct..had to have them coach me thru it over the phone and it pissed them off but they did it.

You're right, with a long tailshaft the 3 speed auto can be the same length as the 700R4.

I've only got about 4000mi on my stage III 700R4 but it's doing fine so far.

I got a little perturbed with them when doing the install test for the warranty though. I use a B&M lockup control instead of a toggle switch as they recomend and they had never heard of one and had no idea how I should wire it in. At first it blew a fuse till I figured the problem out for myself.

It's done fine behind my warmed up 454 so far. Made several runs down the eigth on two seperate occasions and the tranny worked flawlessly.

If I could change anything I'd like to have it go into overdrive at a slower speed. It wont go in till 55mph with my 3.08 gear. The stock 700 I had would go in at speeds as low as 35mph, which suits my frequent around town driving better.

A co-worker had the local GM dealership put a 383 crate motor into his 96 pickup and they hooked up the TV cable wrong and it took out the tranny. The dealership did go good for the new tranny. I have been looking at the 700r4 from bowtie for a while so I told him to call them and see if they could help. They were only too happy to help and coached the mechanic through it over the phone. I think the problem had something to do with the intake manifold being taller, making the TV cable too short.
I am too short on cash right now but I will be buying an 700r4 from Bowtie. I will probably use that as an excuse to go on a vacation and drive down there to have it done.
