Has anybody sent their Comp-plus shifter back to Hurst to be rebuilt? Mines pretty worn out... I considered getting a new one, but they aren't cheap. If they still rebuild them for about $50, is it worth it? I was just wondering if the rebuilt units are really as good as new. Thanks!

Chris,
I thought about having mine rebuilt
i believe it runs about 80 bucks. Instead I found one on ebay freshly rebuilt with shifter rod, linkages, and he even threw in a shifter boot. It cost me about 110 with shipping, just an idea to check out ebay.

I had few rebuilt for my 442's by hurst and they do an excellent job. They replace anything needing replacing and replate it. It is well worth the money.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll check ebay, just in case there's a good deal, but I'll probably just have it rebuilt. Not a huge hurry, I've got until spring....so I had better make up my mind before then! smile.gif

Thanks for the link! Very interesting.... I was looking at thier shifters with the heim ends....mmmmmmm

Do those Long shifters replace the Comp-Plus? They look entirely different. I was wondering if the're interchangeable, or if they were for completely different applications. Now they are even more pricey though....yowza! But if they're 10x better, well then, I might have to re-think things...... smile.gif

I couldn't find the link to where Hurst rebuilds these shifters. Would you mind posting it if you have it handy?

Hurst link (http://go.mrgasket.com/FAQs.aspx?BrandID=2)

Go to almost the bottom of the page, and all the info is there, including the address to send to. To be truthful, I'd heard it was $50, but I never looked myself, until now. It's now up to $90, and there's a $9.25 s/h fee too. :(
