Looking to change my tranny , what am I looking at to change from a turbo350 to either a 700r4 or 200r4 ? This will be in my 67 chevelle . Are all 700r4s and 200r4 the same ? That tranny is so new I would think its a 4L60E, in which case you would need all the electronics to go with it for it to operate correctly. If you get a 700r4 or a 4L60 you will have to have your drive line shortened. If you go with a 200-4r you can use your stock drive line. Unless you have a relitivly stock engine, you will need to build either tranny up, or they won't last long. I've heard a 200(~40hp?) uses less power to run than the 700 (~80 hp). I've also heard the 200s can be just as good or BETTER than a 700, I've read multiple posts of people saying that if they could do it again, they would build a 200 over a 700. My 200 should be here monday, then of course I have to rebuild & build it up.
