: Suppliers for performance overdrive transmissions
cjlandry Apr 1st, 02, 5:05 PM I've been in contact with Steve Holmes at Bowtie Overdrives for a few days. I'm thinking of ordering one of their transmissions to handle the higher torque loads I'm currently generating.
Yes, I just had my tranny rebuilt, it made noise, and the shop is straightening it out for me. But I don't want to frag this perfectly good transmission. I'll probably sell it at a loss to someone with a milder engine.
I'm looking for other suppliers, but nothing but top notch stuff will do!
I've seen 2004R's going for a little less money, but I'd have to get another driveshaft and that would bring the cost back up there.
Any ideas?

cperrell Apr 2nd, 02, 2:49 PM have you talked to wes? I think he just got a new 200 from some place in houston.
I just bought a 200 from phoenix trans near dallas. They also sell 700 and even those hew 4l80e's I think. I haven't gotten it yet, so I can't comment on their work, but they were very helpful and answered all my emails within a day.
I think the 200s are supposed to be the same size as a th350, but I don't know what you had before.

cjlandry Apr 2nd, 02, 4:56 PM I have a 700 now, so the driveshaft is already too short for a 200.
Could you give me a website or email addy for Phoenix Transmissions?

WE GOT THE 2004R PARTS!!
cjlandry Apr 3rd, 02, 1:11 AM Thanks Rick and WE4.
Bruce, I've been drooling over your 200's for a while, but since I screwed up and paid $800 for a weak rebuild on my old 700, I just can't come up with the money for one of yours.
Thanks though!

Obviously this is not right then.... heheheheh http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Quality and reliability has its price.
Dont cheat or try to cut corners as the result will be ugly and ALOT more costly... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Hyder06 Apr 9th, 02, 3:27 PM I bought a 700R4 from them last year an installed it behind a stock 454 in a 86 Suburban. I have not had any problems and I tow with it all the time. The shifts are excellent, hard but not annoying. Also, their tech support is great. I would install it with something other than a Q-jet carb on the engine. That was the only problem I had. Once I switched to an Edelbrock carb/manifold it was very easy.-Lee
