I have a 57 Chevy with a homemade crossover. With the front mounted motor mounts, the set up twists and could break the trans housing.(I've heard)
A supposed fix is bolting on a solid GM flex plate cover that has two bolt mounts at the bottom. Homemade brackets tie the cover to the frame.
I'm trying to find the application to order one. Already tried a Blazer S-10 cover and the holes to the trans don't line up. Evidently the small and large 700R4's are not the same.
Anyone know the application?

Ones like you describe are used on Astro vans, not sure of the year, but believe it to be mid '90s.

Dave, I believe that the one you mention would be the V-6 transmission, right? If so, it won't fit.
But on second thought, does the Astro Vans you mention come with a 4.3? Is the 4.3 trans the same as the V-8 ?

James, I know the MOUNT holes are the same, but are the flex plate cover holes the same?

That particular cover only fits the "six bolt" trans case. I have seen it used (from the factory) on 4.3 V-6 2WD without any reinforcing struts. The most commonly found version is from the 4WD trucks. There are two reinforcement struts that bolt to those two holes you see in your cover. The other end of the struts have a plate that bolts in between the motor mount and the engine. If you bolt some home made struts to the frame you're in for some teeth rattling vibrations.
So, essentially, you need the correct trans case to use that cover and they come in 2 or 4 wheel drive S-10 Blazers and trucks.

How much twist are you seeing? The stock rubber tranny mount can take a fair bit of movement without any problems.
Personally, I'd think you would be more likely to break something doing what you're considering.

Supposedly this a common fix for tri-5 Chevys with stock motor mounts. The brackets only are supposed to help in extreme acceleration and twisting circumstances. So I've been told. ???
The one we have now is from a 2.6 S-10 and dosen't fit.
