Sorry for the long post BUT I HAVE TO VENT a little.
I can't seem to get a break. After going through many travails purchasing a crate engine(that was defective). Then I received their replacement(I had to pay shipping both ways). But the engine is not to my specs, it has a bigger cam than I requested,(and who knows what else) which throws off other things that I had designed in, like the torque converter. I was at least happy that I had purchased a good transmission. But with the bigger cam I needed a higher stall. I had a 2000 stall, but it wanted to die at stoplights. So I read about what alot of people here are using for the street. With 430hp and around 500ftlbs torque with 3:42 rear gears and a 700r4 tranny, I figured a 3000 w/lockup would be about right.
Well, it seemed that the best bang for the buck would be a torco converter. They were very responsive and seemed to be knowledgeable. I received the converter but it had the wrong spline count(27 instead of 30). OK no problem, they took it back and sent me another. I installed it. 3 days after the install the transmission began slipping and not shifting right.
Skip to right now...the transmission is now junk, the torque converter imploded. Metal all through the system, pump gone, filter clogged, all the clutches are trash. There goes the money I spent on the transmission. I'm sick, this stinks. There is no way I could ever trust them again.
To make a long story short, it doesn't pay to try and save a buck, spend it on one of the best. Or you too can be like me and throw another thousand out the window.
Guess I'm done now, and I'm not trying to flame anyone, but geeez. Whatever happened to quality?
