I have a 65 chevelle 4door 300 deluxe sedan. I've looked for the axle code and there is no stamp. How can I find out what the gear ratio is. My car is all original which includes a L6 230 engine. I'm trying to plan on some changes but I can't find out what my 10 bolt houses. Can anyone help. I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Originally.......and don't overlook that word.......originally, (because unless you are 100% sure, anything could be in there by now), your car would have a 3:08 with the 3 speed manual or the PG as "general purpose standard", or a 3:36 with "special purpose" or "mountain".
The cars with an overdrive had a 3:70 gear.
