Trying to understand the difference in u-joints. It is my understanding there are three types a 1310, 1330, and 1350 series with the last being the strongest? How does the C4, C6 tranny yokes correspond to the u-joint series? I will be using a C6 yoke which needs a 1330 series u-joint?
I have an 81' Z-28, what series u-joint comes on their stock? Also, where do you guys find part #s and stuff for the spicer u-joints...I can't seem to find any place that sells them on the net. Thanks

NAPA stores have access to Spicer u-joints and some of the larger stores do stock them. NAPA has gone to the "less expensive" brand as their stocking items, in order to compete with Autozone, Advance, etc. They can still order the higher quality Spicer product for those of us who really care about our vehicles.

You're right, the yoke you have is a 1330 series, which is actually pretty close in size to a 1350, and is actually plenty strong.
Even the C4/C6, etc are sized by 1310, 1330, 1350, etc. I used a 1350 spicer yoke on my TKO, and upgraded the pinion to a 1350 series also. Of course, I had all this custom made for my car, rather than trying to utilize a stock shaft.
If you have any issues at all here, contact Marc at Patterson Driveshafts. He's familiar with my trans setup, and can get everything you need.

Thanks! I'll def. give him a call when it comes time to put this thing in. Do you know if anyone makes a solid conversion joint for the front? I've heard of problems with the shafts being two small in 2nd gens and so you can't weld a C6 1330 series end on it so a conversion joint must be used.
So for the front I basically need a 1310 on the driveshaft side to 1330 on the yoke side?

So for the front I basically need a 1310 on the driveshaft side to 1330 on the yoke side? I'm not sure about a solid conversion joint, but you're right, the conversions joints are weaker in general. A good driveshaft shop should be able to answer that.
