anyone install one of these on their TH350/400. i really like the look of them. thinking of getting the one that bolts to the floor w/o having to remove the tranny. i'd have to cut out the floor where it would be mounted, this would be a column shift replacement. there is a 12" and a 16", not sure which would be best for a '66. any advice?

I'm facing the same dilema. My friend just gave me a 16" Lokar shifter for my '66 Chevelle with a TH350. The Lokar shifter he gave me is brand new and he bought it for a '66 that he had but ended up selling the car. We are hopefully going to install mine in the next week or two. I'll take pictures of the process for you if you want me to. I haven't installed one either but my friend has done plenty of them and he said it's not a big deal...just gotta cut the floor and bolt it on.

I've used them in street rods. They work well but check placement before cutting anything. If you can borrow a trans for mockup it will show you if it'll work.

I have one in my 65 Chevelle with a TH400; Shifter works great but you really need to take your time adjusting it - not as easy as they make it sound. Requires only four holes for mounting and a slot through the floor for the arm to fit through. Watch the length of the handle - remember that the shifter is mounted above the floor so it raises the handle. I ordered a 8" with mine and wish I would have ordered a 6".

Thanks for the info...I'm going to order an 8" for my '66 and I hope it's not too tall. I'm finding a better deal on the 8 inch vs the 6 inch. I hope it works out.
