1966_L78 Sep 4th, 02, 2:55 PM Chad,
changing the driven gear is simple...
For the Muncie/TH350 and Powerglide, you just disconnect the cable, unbolt the retainer from the trans (1 bolt) and slide the sleeve out of the trans... The new gear just slides into the sleeve (old one slides out first), and slide the sleeve back in, reinstall the retainer and cable, and away you go...
Even on your back, this is about a 2-3 minute job...
If you need to change the drive gear, well, then thats a problem... I think you have to remove the tranny for that (Must remove rear extention housing)...
For a TH400 and others, I think it probably similar, but I have never done a swap with those...

chadh5 Sep 4th, 02, 4:17 PM So if I look up the gear I need, can I get that at Napa do you think?
If it's that much trouble to change the drive gear, is there a way on that chart to get the proper driven gear for my drive gear?
onabudget Sep 5th, 02, 11:15 AM Chad,

onabudget Sep 9th, 02, 9:47 AM Sorry Chad, never did a th400 but as Tony said above its probably simmilar.
1966_L78 Sep 9th, 02, 11:37 AM I guess NAPA could get you the parts, but I think they will have to order from GM anyway, and probably alot easier to go to GM yourself with the part numbers you need...
