I have a carter quadrajet carb off a '73 olds. It is now sitting on my '71 malibu with a 350--350HP engine. What is the correct way to adjust the idle mixture? I have read that you screw the two screws in all the way and then back them both off four complete turns. Any ideas??? Dennis

Best way would be to get a vacuum guage, hook it to full time vacuum and adjust the idle screws for highest vacuum. This eliminates the guesswork..

That is my favorite way of adjusting idle mix. Keep in mind that when achieve the highest vacuum, if you then lean the mix (both screws) and drop the vacuum reading 1/4 to 1/2 inches, you'll cut the pollution dramatically, and there is almost no drop in idle quality.
