5 Speed Borg Warner M39 and the MB1 from 1985 to 1992 Camaro. What is the difference of these two.

Looking for possible 5 speed convertion from a Muncie 4 speed. Ratios would help if any one has then. Have 396 with about 350 HP??

Are these a top mounted shifter?

I am thinking these are not a T5

I don't know the differences between those specifically, but you are not going to find any 5-speeds in any GM cars that are going to take anywhere near 350 HP.

I think there was a slightly higher performance 5-speed that came out in the late 80's as the GM 305 and ford 302 started making more power. The most HP GM would let behind ANY of their 5-speeds is about 210HP with a little over 300 ft*lb torque.

Your only options for stock GM trans with more gears is the old 4+3 corvette trans from the 80's (st-10 with bolt on overdrive) or a late model 6-speed.
