I just got done swaping the powerglide with a th350, B&M shiftkit, and B&M rachet shifter!! My 0-60 time is some where between 2 and 3 seconds now. I can finily say I got my moneys worth for the motor! I can barly hookup even with the drag radials!! Now to just tighten up the hose clamps to stop the tranny fluid from leaking on the headers!! We did run into a small mess though. We forgot to tighten the pan bolts down and had about 3 quarts of fluid on the ground! man I hate 12 point bolts. graemlins/clonk.gif

Can someone please tell me how tight you would tork down the pan bolts with a cork gasket?

And also my engine is starting to back fire. do I need to readjust my timing with the new set up? The stall speed is 2400-2600. By back fire I mean exploding in the exhaust pipes and mufflers, not through the carb. It's been a year since I changed plugs and everything else and has been siting for the last 2 months, maybe the cap is dirty.

Any ways, If any one is thinking about doing the swap, DO IT!!!!!

Thanks for listing to me run off at the fingers!!!!

Tighten the pan bolts to 90-100 inch/pounds. Thats about 8 ft/pounds. Keep going around the pan until all the bolts stay at that torque.

Did you reconnect the trans lines with hose? Be careful if you just cut the lines and spliced them back together with a rubber hose and hose clamps. I did this once a long time ago, and didn't have very good luck with it....... one popped off and sprayed my trans fluid in a nice straight line down the road as I drove.......Your beset bet is to reflare the lines and add hard line and a union to reconnect them.

Pan needs to be in perfect shape for cork too, I recommend the Accopac or Farpak gasket as they are much better, and will not tear apart. I use no sealer with them, and go to the spec as indicated above.

On your backfire problem. It could be you cracked the dist cap when you changed trannys. It is real easy to do when the engine is lowered and you are wiggling the trans around getting it to line up. Try replacing the cap and see if your problem goes away.

0-60 in two or three seconds is wickedly fast.

One day at the track, I thought I'd see if I can count my 0-60 time. It was around 3.5-4 seconds, and that's with a high 11.80 timeslip, and a 1.67 60-ft.

You sure your speedo is accurate?

Steve, I've heard others recommend the Accopac gaskets, too. I've been unsuccessful in finding anyone who sells the Accopac gaskets. Where can you purchase the Accopac or Farpak gaskets?

I just ordered up some TH400 stuff today and added them to the list.
Also have them for the Th350.

So if anybody needs one or two for either type of trans I can ship them for a reasonable price now.

$3 per gasket and about the same again for shipping I'm guessing. I'll try ot rememebr to check tomorrow if I can fit them in one of those hard envelopes.
