I have a TH-350 transmission. I want to put 430 gears in the rear, but first I want to know what my top speed would be and if these gears are a pain in the ass to drive with?

Well, a t350 has 2.52, 1.52, 1 for gear ratios. And it depends on what your deffinition of Drivable is. I have 3.55 gears but a short tire at 265/50/15 so that is as deep as i would like to go. I drive my car daily and on the highway, and it does alright. Unless you are running a crazy tall tire, or don't like the highway, or have overdrive in your very near future, i wouldn't go that high.

Thanks for the information, but this isnt an everyday driver. I plan on racing it down the track when I get time, but it is also going to be a weekend driver. I just rebuilt my engine and have about 500 foot pounds of torque and 550 horsepower. It's a serious machine and I want to make it take off and go like a bat out of hell. Maybe this additional information will help.

With 500lbs of torque and 4.30 gear plan on having major traction problems. With a 28" tire your rpm's @60 will be about 3200 rpm's depending on how loose your convertor is.
I would go with the mentioned 3.55 or 3.73. If you want more rpm at the track get a lower profile slick.

Krayzie, with that much hp and torque you really don't need the super tall gear. Talk to a guy who goes by mc71454. He runs 11's on a 3.55 gear.
