I am using a 65 Buick Valve body. It has a "setscrew" that positions the 1-2 shift valvetrain. The Ron Session Book refers to it as the "1-2 adjusting pin" he does not say how it works, just recomends that you measure it before disassembly, and then reset to that measurement when re-assembling. This is what I did when I rebuilt the trans. I would like to increase the 1-2 shift firmness. Will adjusting the setscrew affect shift firmness, timing or both? Which way does what? I have a Transgo Shift Kit and can firm up the shift by enlarging a hole in the spacer plate but if adjusting the setscrew will affect the shift firmness I might want to try adjusting it before/instead of enlarging the hole in the seperator plate.

Thanks, Joel
