I have a 3000rmp stall converter that was in my old th-350 that practicly blew up. The builder said he only saw one worse that he had to beat apart with a sledge hammer. What i was wondering is, is it ok to flush my old converter and reuse it in my new transmission. I messed up and went with a 2000rpm stall and i need the 3000rpm stall back. Will flushing this converter make it usable or will it still eat up my new transmission?
Thanks in advance
Chris

You need to take it or send it to a converter shop to have it cut open, inspected and flushed out.
Using it without doing this is like getting a blood transfusion from and aids patient. It will contaminate the trans and destroy it.

Well Jay, that's a pretty... er... interesting analogy! But the point is made that is the tranny blew, then there is probably junk in the convertor. You could have it flushed, but it may not remove all the junk and you could find out later. If you want to take the chance... it's your new tranny but personally, I'd get a new convertor. You can probably buy one cheaper than having it cut apart and cleaned out.

this is probably un-needed..... but all converters are cut open for over haul or repair. A simple process really.
A converter in a centrifical trash can. As the converter spins it throws out all of the trash and packs it up in little spots in the converter shell.
I work for a small converter/tranny company and you'd be surprised at the garbage that comes out of converters.
