I will be switching to my manual soon, and have not decided if a block plate will be worth it or more trouble. I have put quite a bit into my motor but my legs are more important than the motor. I will be getting a lakewood scattershield but i am wondering if it is worth it to get the block plate? Also does it push the tranny back any or does the plate nest into the bell housing (scattershield)??
Thanks...

The block-plate, is pretty thin...less than 1/8". It goes between the bellhousing and engine, so yes, it does move your trans back, but only a 1/16" or so. It's really no big deal to install, the only extra effort required is you have to remove the flywheel first. It also covers up the front open portion of the bellhousing that isn't covered by the engine itself. This is good to help keep out road debris, and water and such.
I'd say, if you go through the trouble to install the scattershield, I'd do it all up right the first time. Make sure you check the alignment, and I'd install the block-plate too. My $0.02... smile.gif
