How can you tell if your clutch fan is working properly?Mine feels like it has the same amount of drag whether it is hot or cold.Thanks.

A malfunctioning fan clutch will not allow the fan to freewheel when the engine is running at normal operating temp on the highway OR the fan will be loose and wobbly which would be obvious. In the case of the former the fan would be making a loud hurricane like noise when you were at cruising speed on the highway becauce the fan clutch wouldn't be releasing the blades the way it is supposed to.

If you are feeling the fan drag with the engine off either hot or cold you are wasting your time. You cannot tell the quality of the clutch that way.

Isnt a clutch fan suppose to lock up when the temp gets high?Woudnt max cooling come with direct lockup not freewheeling?
