Purchased a new heater core and the tubs are a little larger than the original core. Looks like I need to fab up some new brackets to hold the core in place. Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice please.

This happened to me, a couple of weeks ago. I bought a heater core from a parts store and the part of the core, where the brackets go around, was a little too big. I went to a different parts store and the one they had was perfect. Suggest you try a different store. The store that had the good one was Advance Auto Parts. Good luck.

Thanks Mike, I thought of that but one of the brackets is also broken. The core I bought was 24 bucks and I have seen it elsewhere for 40 (mail order). I could take this one back but I don't know if the next one would be any different and I don't know if I can get another bracket either. BTW, all your fan speeds working now?

I ordered a new blower motor resistor from a local Chevrolet dealership. I checked with 3 different parts stores and nobody had one. It is supposed to be in tomorrow morning. I hope to install it tomorrow evening and I will let you know. Thanks for asking.
