My a/c system has been empty of r-12 for several years.I recently removed the compressor from the car and took off the back of the compressor where the hoses attach.I found that the oil inside looked dark and smelled funny. Not burnt oil smell, just like old stale oil. I would like to take it apart to clean out the old oil and do a inspection of the internal parts, then re-seal the case with new o-rings.Anybody know of a good source of info, tips, websites, etc. that is available? Thanks in advance......Don

Maybe the Chevy Chassis Overhaul Manual for your year car. I don't have mine here, so I/m not sure if the AC compressor unit is included, but I think it is

I know my 1970 oldsmobile service manual cover the overhaul of the A6 compressor

Check www.aircondition.com (http://www.aircondition.com) maybe something in there somewhere. Good luck.
