Can you use any type of adhesive (ie weatherstrip yellow stuff) to glue the foam gaskets used on the heater box behind the firewall. I'm concerned about any fumes from the glue when it gets warm.

You can seal it with 3M Strip Caulk. A box costs about $10.00 at a good automotive paint supply store. The box will last you a long time. It never hardens, and has lots of uses. With the strip caulk, you will not need the foam gaskets.

There is no problem with using the weatherstrip adhesive. I used it to glue mine in place and have run the heater several times. If there was any offgassing, I never noticed it.

A car can get very hot inside with the windows rolled sitting out in the heat. It will cause offgassing of the adhesive on the door weatherstipping, as well as other plastics in the car. Once these chemical gases are baked out, they will be gone.

Thanks for the info, I was also thinking about using the High Temp Red-RTV silcom gasket maker. I've been told it really keeps any type of gasket in place. None of the caution statements on the back mentioned anything about dangerous fumes either. I might give it a try.
