Hi, I have a 70 Chevelle with a 454. I need a radiator coolant overflow tank. I can't seem to find anything stock in any restoration catalog. All the aftermarket stuff that allows for recirculation is expensive and the biggest on is one quart and I don't know if that is enough. Does anyone have an idea where to find one of these overflow cans that is like the stock ones and/or how much should their capacity be? Thanks

There was no stock overflow can for a '70. Those cars were intended to have the radiator filled partially, leaving an air space above the coolant to allow for expansion.

Had the same problem with a 72. in my case the local drag/race track required it http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif ,go to a parts store and look for a universal coolant recovery bottle.payed $25.00 for the kit(maybe 2 to 3 qts.),I mounted it on the lower outside of the inner fender below the battery and ran the hose between the inner fender and frame.this way it was out of view and looked clean under the hood .

NAPA has a universal overflow can for like 7 bucks but its big and bulky. The other extreme is the $100 can from summit that is made for track cars but it holds only one quart. This one would be nice and easy to keep out of the way but it may be too small. The other can is made of plastic (should be OK) is cheap but it's bulky. I will look into the area under the battery to see if I have the space.
Thanks for the help.
