I am working on a Vintage Air (Sure Fit System with R134A refrigerant) installation in my 70. How many of you guys have done this and what is your experience with the capability of the system to cool the passengers compartment on hot days. Hot means 100 / 105 degrees but if your experience is only up to 90 or 95 or so that is OK just tell me what the outside temps are at there worst and how the system performs. Looking for data points.

Also if it is not to much trouble to measure, what are the dimensions of the condensor you have up in front of the radiator.

the only thing i can help with is the size of the oem condenser as mine is currently out of car 16"x 30.5" to include side brakets. 350 car with factory ac. good luck with your new system. from what i understand size and type of condenser coil effects cooling ability of an r-134a system.

Well that is interesting in and of itself. The VA R134 supplied condensor is about 225 sq inches. Their own book says that ya need about 20 % more surface area for the R134 than the R12.

Comparing the old technology OEM R12 to the new tech R134 is not sound engineering BUT my survey data is beginning to indicate that those condensors supplied with the Sure Fit R134 kits are undersized. We will see.
