: AC Vacuum Valve

First of all, I am not sure that I need this part replaced, but if I do, I cannot find it anywhere. Help!

I am working on a '69 Chevelle and I am not getting any vacuum to my heater shutoff valve although vacuum is getting to the firewall fittings. I have been told that the AC vacuum valve behind the dash could be bad. I have tried to find this part but it is not made anymore and no one is making a replacement part. I have found one for a '70 but I don't think they will interchange. Does anyone know if this part can be found or if an alternative solution is available. Can this valve be repaired if it is bad. Or, what else could be causing my problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is what I have found out. For 1969, they no longer make the AC Vacuum Valve that installs behind the dash control module - GM Part #7308825. Neither does anyone make a reproduction part. I did speak to some nice folks at Old Air Products (817) 531-2665,(oldairproducts.com) and found out that they can actually rebuild this valve if you have one you can send to them.

This little nugget needs to be archived.

If you're talking about the assembly that rotates and sends vacuum to various hoses as you slide the control lever, they're not too complicated and should be repairable, unless it's broken. I fixed the one on my Sprint (and also the one on my van) without too much trouble...

Thats the one. How did you repair yours?

Without actually looking at it, I'm not sure I could tell you what I did. They're not all that complicated, the hardest part is not breaking anything when you're taking it apart. If someone has one out that can look at it, that would be more help than I can provide at the moment.

I'm not going to be able to check it out for a week or two. I'll check back with you then.
