Did the radiator on a '64 El Camino have a shroud? If they do, where can I purchase one.
Thanks

The 64's had a metal shroud on certain applications, for instance if the car had factory a/c or the 327 engine, the shroud was used. It was little more than a metal ring that is attached to the radiator support. I have not seen it in reproduction, but you could use a 66 plastic shroud that is available if you modify it slightly.

JimN, what type of modification is necessary. Is it more than cutting the shroud or will I have to add parts?
Thanks for the help.

Hey "Cares", I'm in St. Louis Park, and am also doing a '64 Elky! And am "head scratching" a shroud for mine! Small world. I'm currently carving up a '76 Nova (305, no a/c, plastic) shroud to fit mine. I'm running a long WP, and a thermostatic clutch with 7 blade fan. This shroud will work with a little cutting, some custom brackets, and the removal of the original "radiator spacer" thingie on the radiator support stamping.

I used a 66 shroud on my original 65 radiator. the shroud is a bit wider then the radiator so I made some sheetmetal pieces to fill the gaps on the sides, my recommendation is to buy a 66 radiator and the shroud will bolt right up.

John D.... do you have air conditioning in your '64 Elky? It appears I need to remove the front inner fender to remove the original heater. I'm having PAL's rod shop in Elk River do the work.. It's become a bigger (and more expensive) project than I expected...but I needed to get it done because I'm hauling my '57 Harley Hummer to Sturgis in 10 days. And I can't image driving across South Dakota in August without a/c.
By the way, PAL's is doing a great job of keeping me informed and fixing the 'little things'.

"It appears I need to remove the front inner fender to remove the original heater. "

Yes you have to loosen the inner panel to get to a couple of the heater core cover bolts, assume it is the same for A/C.

Nope, my car was originally just equipped with AM, heater, and 2 speed wipers. That's it. Have fun in Sturgis!
