Hello folks. I'm new to the group and was wondering if maybe someone could help with a question? I have a 64 elky with a 350 and am using a two core radiator. When driving down the road at 55 to 60 the car will slowly but surely keep getting hot untill it boils over. Now if I slow down to 40 or so it will cool off to around 190. The raditor is the one that came with the car and it looks like the right one. I'm pretty sure the radiator is clean. The outside air temp to day is 80 and it got hot after about 10 miles. Any ideas? Thanks. Vernon

I have heard that the older-style radiators, with cap in the pressure side of the radiator (in this case, the top) have a tendancy to push water out at elevated, sustained speeds... Maybe this is what they meant...

Maybe try a new radiator cap and see if that changes anything...

May be time for a new radiator...

I've got a '64 Elky, and had similar problems until I installed a new pressure cap, and a 7 blade thermostatic clutch fan off a '76 'Bu I had laying around. Stock radiator, goodbye cooling problems.

Thanks John. I'll give that a try as I'm pretty sure I can get my hands on a fan off of a 80 malibu. Got any pictures of your 64? Thanks, Vernon
