As a teenager and the newest owner of a 1966 Chevelle Malibu, I can't get over the fact that the original A/C unit takes up half of the front seat. Mostly because this A/C unit does not work, I'm trying to find out if it is possible to change out the old one and put in a more modern one. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes. There is a company called Vintage Air that manufactures a/c units for older cars that are of the newer style. Check out this link.

Also, if you do a search thru the forums for 'vintage air', you'll find a number of postings by people who have done this conversion, or added air to a previously non-ac car.
