How difficult is it to install a heating unit in a 1971 Chevelle Malibu? I purchased this car for my son and we found a heating unit that will work but my son thinks its going to be a piece of cake to install--like buttoning up your shirt. Any suggestions on problems we might encounter?

Could you elaborate on what your heating unit consists of? Are you installing a heater in a car that does not have one, or are you replacing the heater core (that little radiator thingy)? If it is installing the entire heater, you will need to check the vehicle to see if it was a heater car or a air conditioned car; the bodywork is different between the two. If it is replacing the heater core, plan on several hours. The heater box must be removed from inside the car, and one nut hold the lower righ corner of the box must be removed from outside the car after loosening the inner fender. It is not really a hard job, but not a fast one.
