I have a unique problem I hope someone can help me with. I thought I had a problem overheating. when my cheap temp gauge says around 200-220, my car starts running rough almost like I'm misfiring or the timing is off. this only happens from regular city traffic, Highway driving is fine. I got a new larger radiator, facory shroud, electric fan and still had a problem. I took it to the radiator shop and they told me my gauge is off about 30 degrees and never over heated.

Why is the car running rough when the temp climbs during the summer months??????

please help..

I'm fighting the exact same thing with my new motor. The only thing I can think of is on mine I didn't use the heat passage block plates, and the carb is boiling.

Any other great ideas before I pull the intake off?

You may have a coolant leak either from the radiator or the cap. This would spray the sparplug wires with water whrn the engine gets hot.Hope this helps Jerry

I Know I dont have any leaks, but I didn't think about my fuel boiling. Has anyone else experienced the fuel boiling then causing the motor to run rough??? I have a Carter AFB with little room under my hood. Will a heat disapator help? what other ways are there to stop the fuel from boiling?

Spacers, insulators, heat shields under the carb. Routing your fuel line as far AWAY from your block and heads as possible, buying a cowl hood so as to give you more room as well as fresh air from the cowl, thus getting rid of any pockets of heat around the carb. I would try a insulator under the carb and re-routing the fuel line for more clearance from the block, if fuel boiling in the carb is indeed the issue.

Elkenova, That is a unique diagnostic tip and solution that I will file away for future use. Thanks.
