I just purchased a Griffin Aluminum radiator (31''x19''x1.00'') and its not a direct bolt-in. I've read that using "quick-ties" is a no-no when it comes to fastening it to the car, so I was wondering what others might have done to solve this. The bolt-in deal from Be Cool sounded nice, but the $500+ price tag didn't have a nice ring to it. So I opted for the $200 Griffin http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif , I just hope there will be a way to keep it in there good! Thanks for all replies... Happy motoring

I purchased the same radiator for my 68 Malibu. I'd like to know any info as well.
Thanks and Happy New Year!

I'm trying to decide which radiator to get for my '72.I'm curious whu you got the Griffin with the 1.00" tubes instead of the 1.25" tubes?

I put that same radiator in a previous Chevelle about 6 years ago. I don't recall all the particulars, but I do remember having to do some grinding on the lower horizontal mounting flange of the core support. I think I used the stock lower rubber pads, but I don't recall if the stock upper cover fit with the new rad. The lower outlet neck was tilted at an odd angle, so I cut it off and had it re-welded straight.

But, with that said, I installed one of the $500 rads you mentioned in my current ride and it was every bit as much a custom install PITA as the other one. So much for the "direct fit" thing.

SS540, which brand radiator did you install? I'm trying to decide between a direct fit or a universal fit AFCO or Griffin, and I'm trying to learn from the rest of you which I should buy. So, which "direct fit" rad did you buy, and any other advice appreciated. Thanks.
