Hey folks,
Does anyone know if the AC components for a 70 chevelle are the same as for a 72? TIA,

Almost but not exactly. The main control panel in the dash has different switch layouts. You really cannot tell from the front you have to have both systems side by side out of the car. As a result of the switch differences some of the Vac. motor hose lines are different.

Also some compressors had "superheat" switches in them and others did not. Not sure when that change was incorporaated but there are differences in the wiring to accomodate the non superheat and superheat equipped cars.

Last but not least there is a difference in the main 12 power lead between the systems. Some have one single lonely wire that goes to the fuse box. The other systems have a wire that connects to a 12 volt source someplace behind the dash in the harness.

Sorry if this is not real clear. I did a conversion from a couple of donor cars worth of parts and I know these differences as outlined here are correct. I just cannot remember what years had what configuration I just know there are subtile differences. All the big stuff like the evaporator and condensor and such are the same but that difference in the compressor is signif.
